After 7 years in post as the Chief Executive of PLANED, the Board of Trustees wish to announce that Iwan Thomas, will be sadly leaving at the end of April this year, for an exciting new role and opportunity.
Iwan joined PLANED in 2018, and took charge of an organisation at that point which had considerable challenges. Retaining key personnel and recruiting new experienced staff, Iwan working with the team, has transformed and grown PLANED, from a Pembrokeshire only focused charity, to a regional delivery organisation, with greater national profile and influence.
During his tenure, he has successfully made PLANED’s financial position more secure, and diversified from its previous reliance on EU funding; worked with the team to develop more innovative and sector leading projects around food resilience, micro care, digital training, community assets, community engagement and partnership working on sustainable deliverables, amongst many others.
His recent leadership of the work developing the Carmarthenshire Living Well Centre, which now supports 34 services & projects in one shared location, delivering to over 700 people each month, is testimony to, and just one example, to his inclusive and innovative leadership style, that delivers actual, and sustainable, results for people.
Similarly his oversight of investment into the Old School Site in Narberth, has seen Units be upgraded, and a full occupancy of all premises for the first time in many years.
His presence and influence, within many local, regional and national organisations, has further raised the profile of the work of PLANED, and the communities we serve; coupled with his determination to deliver and overcome barriers, that others may have run away from.
Whilst we will miss Iwan as part of the team, it also means we are now searching for a worthy successor, to the role of Chief Executive Officer for PLANED.
The recruitment process and timetable will be shared shortly, and we are pleased to have secured the services of a trusted independent, national agency, to lead this work in what is a key regional role, working within a great team, on behalf of many different communities of both place and interest across West Wales.
