Having completed our CWBR Youth project for Pembrokeshire in the summer of 2024, one of the key and most memorable outputs, were the large graffiti boards produced.
Funded originally by the Police and Crime Commissioners ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) fund, the boards highlight themes of interest and concern to young people, including access to transport, youth spaces and activities, and affordable housing, as well as a desire for brighter, kinder communities and improved natural environments where young people are better connected to older residents and feel welcome & safe.
The boards were a result of, nine events hosted by PLANED and our CWBR youth project, where over 120 young people and town & community councillors came together, to discuss community strengths and shared opportunities, all captured and created into 18 large graffiti boards by local artist, Lloyd the Graffiti.
Since the CWBR Youth project for Pembrokeshire, completed in summer 2024, a number of the graffiti boards have been donated back to the communities who were originally involved, however, others remained in storage and away from public view.
With the implementation of PLANED’s new Living Well Centre for Carmarthenshire, based at Parc Dewi Sant in Carmarthen, (where over 15 community delivery based organisations, now share a public space), we have decided this is the ideal venue for the graffiti boards to have a visible, and more permanent home.

Iwan Thomas, Chief Executive of PLANED notes, “When CWBR youth in Pembrokeshire came to an end, we wanted to make sure that outputs such as the graffiti boards, had an applicable and permanent home, that reflected the community aspirations of the content created. Therefore, with our new Centre in Carmarthenshire, it was the ideal fit, that common themes and issues captured so amazingly well visually, would be seen everyday not only by the project partners we are fortunate to work with, but also the members of the public who will be accessing the Living Well Centre, on a daily basis.”
With the current selection of graffiti boards now displayed in Carmarthen from December 2024, promoting common themes regionally, it is hoped that the remaining few boards that are left, will also be given the appropriate promotion they deserve to highlight the work PLANED, and communities, have delivered to date, in showcasing and promoting, the youth voice within our communities.
