Welsh Minster for Health and Social Services, Eluned Morgan, also joined by Marc Tierney, requested to speak with micro-enterprises in Pembrokeshire to find out about their experience of delivering care in a new way.
Micro-enterprises are very small, independent care and support services, usually self-employed. They offer people a different choice to that of larger agencies. Being small means that they can provide the time and consistency to build a real understanding and relationship with the people they support.
Micro-enterprise founders Maria Davies (‘Side by Side’) and Jay Rogers (‘Jay’s Home Help Support Services’) were able to join the meeting with Lee James at PLANED via Zoom. They explained how being self-employed enabled them to offer more time to their clients and be the one person that supports them. As such they’re able to build a real relationship with their clients, understanding what matters to them and how to support their social and emotional needs, as well their physical care needs.
In the last 15 months the number of micro-enterprises in Pembrokeshire has increased from 8 to 34, which you can see on the directory.
